Palmetto State League Welcomes John Nester to Leadership Team

The Palmetto State League is proud to introduce John Nester, who brings a lifetime of baseball experience, player development expertise, and deep South Carolina roots to the league as it prepares for its inaugural season.

Nester, a native of Greer, South Carolina, has dedicated his career to helping athletes reach the next level. Having coached hundreds of players who advanced to college and professional baseball, he understands firsthand the importance of providing competitive, developmental opportunities during the crucial college years.

“I’ve coached hundreds of players who have gone on to play college or pro baseball and know how important it is during the college years to have a place to compete and continue to grow,” Nester said. “This league will give players exactly that.”

Nester’s baseball journey spans every level of the game. A standout at Riverside High School, where he won multiple state championships, he went on to play at Clemson University from 2008 to 2010 before being drafted by the Oakland A’s. He later signed with the San Diego Padres, eventually serving as the organization’s Minor League Catching Instructor.

As the Palmetto State League gears up for its first season, Nester is eager to help introduce a new era of summer baseball in South Carolina.

“I’m excited to see a new brand of baseball launch in South Carolina that provides players and fans with a great experience,” he said. “The baseball community here is massive, and we’re ready to offer college players a new opportunity to develop and showcase their skills.”

The Palmetto State League looks forward to the energy, experience, and passion John Nester brings as the league continues to grow and prepare for opening day.
